Iroquois' Connor Day wins sectional title

Connor Day punched his ticket to Albany Saturday after pinning his way to a Section VI Division I wrestling championship at North Tonawanda.

The Iroquois senior capped his run to a berth in the upcoming state championships with a second-period pin against Niagara Wheatfield's Josh Thibeault in the 145-pound bracket final.

As Iroquois' sole sectional champion this season, Day will cap his high school career Friday, Feb. 24, and Saturday, Feb. 25, at the Times Union Center in Albany. Day finished sixth in the state at 138 pounds last winter.
