ALBANY — After what seems like a lifetime of dropping and gaining weight, of performing rigorous workouts with layers of clothes on and suffering humbling defeats at the hand of an opponent, five local wrestlers reached the apex of the wrestling world this weekend by participating in the NYSPHSAA Wrestling Championships at the Times Union Center in Albany.

The five wrestlers were Zach Flaitz, Zander Sharp and Bradley Cheek from Canisteo-Greenwood, Jacob London from Alfred-Almond and Masin Schuster from Dansville.

After impressive regular seasons and big performances in both the Section V Tournament and the State Qualifiers, those five wrestlers were able to earn a spot in the toughest tournament of the year.
