BATH — Geneva senior grappler Mark Bloom returned to familiar territory Saturday. Meanwhile, Panthers teammate James Lyons experienced the top achievement in Section V wrestling for the first time.

By decisioning Webster Thomas' Mike Poliszuk 15-7 in the 152-pound finals, Bloom recorded his second straight Section V Class A championship and won his third sectional patch in four seasons. At 189, Lyons broke through for his initial sectional crown, scoring an 8-5 decision over Pete Garofolo of Webster Thomas.

At Haverling High, Wayne emerged as the Class A champion, surpassing second-place Webster Thomas by a wide margin. Canandaigua wound up third.

The Eagles, team champions a third straight time, received championship efforts from Kevin Steinruck (96), Steve Singley (103), Vinny Bianchi (119), Luke Baum (135), Nathan Patterson (140), Scott Prinsen (145), Josh Patterson (160) and Ryan Lamagra (171).

Three Canandaigua grapplers found the winner's circle: Dan Mandara (112), Rob Mack (125) and Ryan Aruck (275).
