Raiders Take Third; Gross Named Outstanding Wrestler

ALLIANCE, Ohio - Mount Union's wrestling team placed third at the 2017 Mount Union Invitational on Saturday evening at Peterson Field House.

The Purple Raiders tallied 130.5 points with seven placers. Gannon University topped the Raiders at second with 140 points and Lake Erie College stole the show with 143.5 points.

Jesse Gross (Norwalk/St. Paul) led the way for the Raiders with a first place finish at 165 pounds. Gross defeated Nick Vandermeer (Lake Erie) in the quarterfinals and Nate Ross (Gannon) in the finals match; Vandermeer and Ross are the #7 and #10 wrestlers in Division II, respectively. Gross's performance led him to be named the invitiational's outstanding wrestler.
