December 13, 2017

BUFFALO, NY - University at Buffalo wrestler Brett Perry was named the Mid-American Conference Wrestler of the Week, the league announced on Wednesday.

Perry, the Bulls' 184-pounder, went 2-0 on the week with wins against Michigan State and Kent State. On Friday, Perry earned a 5-3 decision over Shwan Shadaia. On Sunday, trailing 4-0 after the first period, Perry rallied to earn a major decision over Kent State's Colin McCracken. Perry posted eight points in overtime to earn a 16-8 major decision. His major was big because it cut the Buffalo deficit to 15-13. The Bulls won the final match to take the dual, 16-15.

Perry is 5-3 overall and 5-1 in duals on the season. He is also a perfect 2-0 in MAC duals. The redshirt-junior grappler has won his last four duals.

It is the second time in Perry's career he has won the award. He was also named MAC Wrestler of the Week last season.

Perry and the Bulls will next face Cornell on Monday, December 18th in the Mayhem on the Mainstage at the UB Center for Arts.
