BUFFALO, NY - The University at Buffalo wrestling team dropped a Mid-American Conference dual to Old Dominion, 22-9, at Alumni Arena on Friday night. Four separate matches were decided in overtime. Unfortunately, for the Bulls, the Monarchs won three of the OT matches.

After Kyle Akins dropped a 4-2 sudden victory to Michael McGee at 125, Bryan Lantry tied the dual with a thrilling 3-1 decision over Caleb Richardson. With the match tied at 1 in the closing seconds, Lantry earned a takedown with just three seconds left to earn the 3-1 win.

The Monarchs took control of the dual by winning the next six matches. All but one of the matches were close decisions, including two in overtime.

The Bulls finished strong by winning the final two matches of the night, but it wasn't enough. Joe Ariola took a 7-2 decision from John D'Agostino for his fifth dual win of the season.

Jake Gunning outscored Ali Wahab, 4-1, in overtime to earn the 5-2 decision and improve to 8-1 in duals on the year.

"We have so much to do," head coach John Stutzman said. "Losing five matches by one takedown is unacceptable in this program. We just have not wrestled hard up to this point."

Buffalo falls to 5-6 overall and 2-2 in the MAC with the loss. It's a quick turnaround for the Bulls as they wrestle at Central Michigan on Sunday afternoon at 2pm.
