Lancaster wrestling team falls in state dual meet
February 01, 2018

The Lancaster wrestling team went winless in its first-ever trip to the NYPHSAA Dual Meet Championship. The Legends advanced that far by winning the inaugural Section VI Dual Meet Tournament last weekend.

The format of the event was pool play, with four groups of three teams. The Legends were placed in a group with Minisink Valley and Horseheads. They dropped the opening match to Minisink Valley, the top team in the state, 60-13.

"We started off with Minisink Valley, which was previously the No. 1-ranked team in the state and we just came out flat," Lancaster coach Ron Lorenz said. "We weren't really ready to wrestle. They were a very good team and they kind of took it to us a little bit. The first match didn't go that well."
