LoHud: 10 locals to watch at the New York state championships

In an exercise I like to try every year, I've ranked the top 10 wrestlers from Section 1 based on who can do the most damage at the New York state wrestling championships in Albany. The guys at the top of the list represent those I think could legitimately win state titles, and as we work our way down, I picked those I believe will end up high on the podium. A finish in the top six at any weight etches your name into history as an All-State honoree.

Wrestling is scheduled to begin at the Times Union Center on Friday at 10 a.m., with the quarterfinals set for 2 p.m. The semis will be held on Saturday at 10 a.m., with the finals scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Tickets for both days are available via Ticketmaster.

Later this week, I'll have a column coming which will examine the chances for some of the top guys — particularly the upperclassmen — and the collective mindset for Section 1's best.
