King pin: Four-time state champion Frankie Gissendanner is an Urban-Suburban success story

While walking into any number of schools around Monroe County or an area grocery store or even a park in the city of Rochester, Frankie Gissendanner is almost certain to spot someone he's had a conversation with.

"We're in the (Rochester) Public Market and he'll say 'That's Mr. So-and-So from wherever,' " Gissendanner's mother, Nicole said. "We will go to different schools, and he not only knows some of the kids, but people who work at the school."

It's easy to understand why people recognize Gissendanner, one of Section V's most successful wrestlers in history. He's been in their gyms the past six years, winning on such a regular basis that he is the only six-time SuperSectional champion and now a four-time state champion.

Added to his list of accomplishments is his second straight Democrat and Chronicle All-Greater Rochester Division 1 Wrestler of the Year accolade.
