Alexander wrestler Young headed to D-II Gannon

ALEXANDER — For a number of years, the Alexander wrestling program has been among the top small-school teams in the area and for a lot of those years the Trojans' headlines were dominated by 2017 graduate Dane Heberlein. Heberlein was a three-time New York State champion who went on to wrestle at Binghamton University and, for his career, he oftentimes overshadowed some of Alexander's other talented grapplers.

This season, one of those excellent wrestlers continued to make his own name as he closed out his spectacular high school career in style and now he has made his decision about his future on the mats. Last week, longtime Alexander varsity wrestler Nick Young officially turned down a number of Division I offers to accept a package from Gannon University to wrestle at the Division II level.
