NWHOF Class of 2018: Frank Popolizio

Frank Popolizio was coached by Section II legend Joe Bena at Niskayuna High School and would later develop into one of the best coaches and promoter of the sport of wrestling. Frank started the Journeymen Wrestling Club in 1999 and was instrumental in bringing Division I wrestling to the Capital region.

This year he was selected one of the coaches for the USA Cadet team and directed the first dual meet that was contested out of the United States, The Tussle of the Troops. In that match Oklahoma State wrestled Frank's brother's team, the Wolfpack of North Carolina State. Additionally, he is the assistant coach at Shenendehowa High School where in the 2008-09 season he was awarded the NY State Assistant Coach of the Year honor.

He will be honored on September 23, 2018 at the Upstate New York Chapter of the National Wrestling Hall of Fame's awards ceremony. Tickets can be purchased by calling 607.244.8432.
