LAS VEGAS, NV - Lou DePrez of the Binghamton wrestling team placed fifth at the 2018 Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational Saturday afternoon. The redshirt freshman went 5-2 at the tournament, beating #7 nationally ranked Max Dean (Cornell) to earn his spot on the podium.

"This tournament was a great learning experience," head coach Kyle Borshoff said. "We got to compete against many of the top ranked wrestlers in the country. Lou ended the event with a win over a returning All-American that beat him twice during the season last year. We need to continue to improve in certain areas so that we can continue to build on our success."

At the Storm Open, four Bearcats earned spots on the podium. Christopher Barker took third at 157 pounds while Kevin Kelly (141), Michael Zarif (149) and Anthony DePrez (197) each took sixth at their respective weights.

"Today was about getting better," associate head coach Jasen Borshoff said. "We talked about today being an opportunity to put ourselves in positions to make improvements, and I believe we accomplished that. There's a few matches that we would like to have back, but we wrestled hard and all in all it was a good day."
