Brockport Drops First Dual Meet Of The Season
December 06, 2018

ROCHESTER, N.Y.—The College at Brockport wrestling team traveled to Rochester Institute of Technology for their first dual meet of the season and the end result was not in their favor. After the ten matches concluded, the Golden Eagles were on the wrong end of a 28-6 defeat.

The first match was a nail-biter in the 133-weight class, with Elijah Sims staying tied 1-1 through the first three periods. Unfortunately, the end was not in Sims favor as he fell in a 3-1 sudden victory. Zach Barker and Ryan Snow proceeded to earn back-to-back victories in the 141 and 149-weight class respectively. Barker earned his victory in a 5-4 decision, which was followed by a 6-2 decision by Snow. The rest of the competition was not as successful for the Green and Gold.

Joe Yanis was close to earning another victory for Brockport as he represented in the 197-weight class. Yanis was tied 1-1 through the first three periods, similarly to Sims, but would stumble in overtime and fall in a 3-1 sudden victory. Matthew Kline battled in his match for the 165-weight class, closing the gap to 4-2 before the third period. He fought hard to collect points, but was unable to execute, eventually dropping by a 5-2 decision.
