January 16, 2019

ROCHESTER, NY - The RIT wrestling team has ascended to No. 25 in the most recent National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) Division III National poll. It is RIT's first national ranking since 1999.

The Tigers are off to a tremendous start to the season with an 8-1 record in dual matches, while winning the team title at the 2018 Citrus Open in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. On Dec. 29-30 and placing third at both the season-opening Ithaca Invitational on Nov. 2-3 and RIT Invitational on Dec. 1.

RIT is just three dual wins shy of tying the program record for victories in a season of 11, set in 1958-59. The Tigers set a single-match program record by scoring 54 points against King's College on Jan. 4 and have recorded a pair of shutouts. On Dec. 6, RIT knocked off The College at Brockport for the first time in 20 years.
