Brockport State Coach Murray Secures 49th Consecutive Winning Season
January 25, 2019

BROCKPORT, N.Y.—The College at Brockport wrestling program has dominated since the 1963 season, where they went 5-4 in their first year of competition. In 1971, the Golden Eagles named Don Murray head coach and they never looked back. After a pair of impressive wins over Alfred State College and the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford on Tuesday, coach Murray secured another winning season, making it his 49th straight.

In his 49 years at the helm of Brockport wrestling, Murray has led his teams to eight undefeated seasons, nine years with double-digit victories and 16 one-loss seasons. The Green and Gold have brought home 26 team Conference Titles, between the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) and the Empire Collegiate Wrestling Conference (ECWC). At the national level, Brockport has had 13 NCAA final four finishes and five NCAA Division III National Championships as a team. Murray has coached over 140 All-Americans and countless individual conference, state and national champions.

Brockport aims to continue to add to their win total this weekend as they head to Worchester Polytechnic Institute for a quad meet on Saturday, Jan. 26. Competition is set to start at 11 a.m. as the Golden Eagles will face teams such as Southern Maine, Johnson and Wales and the host WPI.
