PITTSBURGH, PA - University at Buffalo wrestlers Troy Keller and Brett Perry each dropped their opening match in the consolation bracket on Friday at the NCAA Championships, bringing an end to their championship runs.

Keller faced Ohio State's Te'Shan Campbell who was seeded 21st at 165 lbs. After taking a shot, Keller got caught in a tough position and Campbell was able to pin the Bulls' junior at the 1:10 mark of the first period.

At 197 lbs., Perry went up against Josh Hokit of Fresno State, the 16th seed. With the match tied, 3-3, in the latter stages, Hokit earned a takedown with only 14 seconds left in the third period to take a 5-3 lead. The takedown also allowed Hokit to earn the riding time point, leading to the 6-3 victory.

Friday's losses by Keller and Perry brought an end to the UB wrestling season - one of the best in school history. The Bulls won 12 duals on the season, tying their most wins since returning to the Division I ranks in 1998. Their five MAC wins were a record since joining the conference. Buffalo had six national qualifiers, their most since 2011.
