Bulls Place Record Four Wrestlers on NWCA Scholar All-American Team

MANHEIM, PA - The University at Buffalo wrestling team placed four Bulls on the National Wrestling Coaches Association Scholar All-American Team, the most in program history for a single season. Kyle Akins, Troy Keller, Brett Perry and Derek Spann were all named to the team, it was announced on Thursday. The Bulls' 3.25 grade point average ranked 19th in the nation and was the second best among Mid-American Conference schools.

Akins was selected to the team for the third time in his career. The redshirt-senior is a communication major with a 3.4 grade point average.

Keller, Perry and Spann were all first-time selections. Keller is an environmental studies major with a 3.7 GPA, Perry is a mechanical and aerospace engineering major with a 3.4 GPA and Spann is an environmental studies major with a 3.5 GPA.

In addition to exceling in the classroom, Keller and Perry were 2019 MAC champions and joined Spann as national qualifiers this past season.
