The alert came from Olean's Ed Thierman early this week that another honor had been bestowed on Jeff Prescott, inarguably the Big 30's most successful wrestler.

As it was, Prescott, now 50, learned in April that he would be one of the 13 latest inductees into the Greater Buffalo Sports Hall of Fame.

He will be joined by Salamanca's Chuck Crist, a former Penn State basketball player and seven-year NFL veteran, in the ceremony, Nov. 7, at the Buffalo Convention Center.

But, alas, Prescott, also a PSU alum, was just accorded a notable citation, this one by his alma mater.

The Penn Stater, that school's alumni magazine, in its July/August edition, named the Top 100 Athletes in the history of Nittany Lions sports.

There, at No. 61, was Prescott, the sixth of 10 wrestlers listed.
