NYS could drop to 13 weight classes if approved next month

Thanks to an initial vote of 7-3, New York wrestling has decided to potentially move from 15 weight classes to 13 for the 2020-21 season which will need to get the final approval by the NYS Executive Committee next month.

The past several years, NY has had 15 weight classes ranging from 99 pounds all the way up to 285.

This past season the weight classes included 99, 106, 113, 120, 126, 132, 138, 145, 152, 160, 170, 182, 195, 220, and 285.

The new 13-weight class proposal is 102, 110, 118, 126, 132, 138, 145, 152, 160, 172, 189, 215, and 285.
