Captain Material: Hanson, Hetrick Take On Leadership Positions At U.S. Military Academy
September 02, 2020

Gaining entry to the U.S. Military Academy is no small feat. Fact is, only about 10 percent of applicants are admitted. What, then, are the odds that two Chautauqua County residents would be a captain of a varsity sport at West Point at the same time?

Slim and none, right?

Well, Clayton Hanson of Jamestown and Ryan Hetrick of Bemus Point are defying those odds.

Hanson, a graduate of Southwestern Central School, is a senior captain on the Black Knights rifle team, while Hetrick, a Maple Grove Junior-Senior High School alumnus, is a senior co-captain on the school's wrestling team.
