#6 SUNY BROCKPORT WRESTLING WINS EMPIRE CONFERENCE TITLE
Eight Golden Eagles qualify for NCAA's

ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- The SUNY Brockport wrestling team won the 2004 Empire Conference Championship, and six individuals won automatic bids to the NCAA's with championships. In addition, two more Golden Eagles made it as wild card winners.

SUNY Brockport scored 105 points, while Cortland took second place with 70.5 points.

Tony D'Ambra (Caledonia/Caledonia-Mumford) was named the Most Outstanding Wrestler, as he won the 133 weight class and the automatic NCAA bid. Other automatic winners and weight class champions were Dan Roberts (Bellport/Bellport) at 141, Dan Song (Smithtown/Hauppauge) at 149, Artie Weidler (Patchogue/Patchogue), the #1 ranked wrestler at 165, and #1 ranked Rob Cuffie (Bay Shore/Brentwood) at 197. Arnold Frost (Ithaca) also won his weight class, competing at heavyweight.

Sal Cruz (Long Beach) will return to the NCAA's as he was named a wild card at 125. Also, Romaine Malcolm (Amityville) will compete in the NCAA's after being named as a wild card in the 157 weight class.

The eight Golden Eagles will compete at the nationals in Dubuque, Iowa March 5-6.
