#3 SUNY BROCKPORT WRESTLING DEFEATS #14 CORTLAND
Golden Eagles win 31-2

BROCKPORT, N.Y. - The SUNY Brockport wrestling team, ranked fourth nationally in Division III, defeated 14th ranked Cortland, 31-2 Wednesday night at Tuttle North Gymnasium. Brockport won nine of the 10 bouts for the night.

In the first match of the evening at 141 pounds Dan Song (Smithtown/Hauppauge) pinned Cortland's Jason Chase (Rush/Rush-Henrietta) in 6:20. In the second match of the night, in a matchup of two local former scholastic wrestlers, Brockport's Pat Hanscomb (Hilton) defeated Troy Tooley (Kendall) 5-3 with a takedown 12 seconds into overtime. At 157 lbs. Brockport's Andy Boice (Vernon Center/VVS) defeated Brent Rider (Tioga), who is ranked #3 in the Division III by a score of 8-3. Brockport also picked up a victories from #2 ranked Artie Weidler (Patchogue/Patchogue) at 165 pounds, and Mario Schiano (Rochester/Gates).

In the 184 match the Golden Eagles Rich D'Amico (Liverpool/Cicero North Syracuse) defeated #8 ranked Ben Locke (Bainbridge/Bainbridge-Guilford) 5-3 and at 197. senior #2 ranked Robert Cuffie (Bay Shore/Brentwood) won 12-5.

In the night's most anticipated match at 125 pounds Cortland's #5 ranked Jason Peck (Montgomery/Valley Central) defeated Brockport senior, #6 ranked Salvador Cruz (Long Beach/Long Beach) 7-5.

Brockport returns to action Friday in the Messiah Tournament while Cortland competes at the RIT Tournament Saturday.
