Greenville, PA - The Jamestown Community College wrestling opened their season on the road at NCAA Division III opponent Thiel College, falling 33-15.

The Jayhawks (0-1) fell behind early as Marcus Evans (Randolph, NY/Randolph HS) was defeated by Evan Whiteside via pin in the 125 pound match.

JCC would quickly get the lead with wins by Taige Jones (Bemus Point, NY/Maple Grove HS) and Trenton Donahue (DuBois, PA/DuBois Area HS). Jones got the 8-2 decision victory over Jake Alberts in the 133 pound bout. Donahue put the Jayhawks up 9-6 with a fall over Hunter Martz in the 141 pound match.

The Tomkats would regain the lead in the next two rounds, going up 17-9. JCC battled back in the 174 pound round with Ross Abram (Eden, NY/Eden Central), getting the fall against Frank Gill.

Thiel would secure the victory, winning the next three bouts.

In exhibition competition, Donahue picked up an 8-0 major decision win over Hunter Martz. Alex Christy (Fredonia, NY/Fredonia HS) also picked up a victory in an exhibition match, defeating Trey Wilt in the heavyweight bout.

The Jayhawks will be back in action next Saturday in a tri-match, hosting Thiel College and NCAA Division II Gannon University at 4 p.m.
