DePrez takes eighth after dropping 6-3 decision to No. 5 Bolen

Lou DePrez of the Binghamton University wrestling team finished in eighth place at NCAA Championships Saturday afternoon in St. Louis, Mo. The redshirt junior finished his season on the podium, and a two-time All-American.

The 184-pound seventh place matchup was between DePrez and No. 5 seeded Hunter Bolen of Virginia Tech. The bout began with a scoreless opening few minutes, and DePrez was able to get a shot in at the end of the period and nearly had a takedown. Bolen squirmed out of it and DePrez found himself at the bottom and on his back for two seconds.

Trailing 4-0 in the second, DePrez cut down Bolen's ride time to under a minute and let him out to start the period. He then proceeded to get a takedown to trim it to 5-2 and let him out again to keep attacking but was held without another takedown in the frame.

The third period was scoreless besides a stall point awarded to DePrez, and Bolen escaped with the 6-3 decision.

DePrez finished his season with his second straight All-America honor and matched Nick Gwiazdowski as the only other Bearcat to take eighth at the tournament.
