Cody Griswold Releases Inaugural 2021-22 Elmira College Women's Wrestling Schedule

ELMIRA, N.Y - The Elmira College women's wrestling program will make its debut on the mat on November 2 after the inaugural wrestling campaign for the Soaring Eagles was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The 2021-22 schedule is highlighted by six dual meets and one quad meet.

After being selected as the first-ever head women's wrestling coach for the Soaring Eagles, Cody Griswold has a complete schedule lined up for this winter. EC will open its campaign with a dual on the road against East Stroudsburg University on Tuesday, November 2 at 7:00 p.m. The Purple & Gold return to ESU on Sunday, November 7 to participate in the ESU Open.

The Soaring Eagles will host a pair of duals along with a quad meet during their inaugural campaign inside Speidel Gymnasium. EC will welcome in Brewton-Parker College for a dual beginning at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 9. The Elmira quad meet is scheduled for noon on Saturday, January 22, and will feature Sacred Heart, Delaware Valley, and Lock Haven.

Following the Thanksgiving Break, the Soaring Eagles will return to the mat with a tri-meet against Ferrum College and Delaware Valley on Saturday, December 4 at 1:00 p.m. EC will close the 2021 calendar year on Monday, December 13 at the Sacred Heart Duals.

The lone dual matchup on the road for the Purple & Gold during the new year will come on Saturday, January 29 as EC travels to Tiffin for the Dragon Duals beginning at 8:00 a.m.

EC will close the dual portion of its 2021-22 campaign at home on Thursday, February 3 with a 7:00 p.m. bout against East Stroudsburg. The Soaring Eagles will shift their focus to regional competition on Saturday, February 19 at the North-East Regionals. EC will also take part in the National Collegiate Championships on Saturday, March 5, and the UWW Women's Nationals World Team Trials on May 7-8.

Schedule Highlights
- The first-ever home dual for EC will take place on Tuesday, November 9 against Brewton-Parker at 7:00 p.m.
- EC will also hit the mat inside Speidel Gymnasium on Saturday, January 22 at noon and Thursday, February 3 at 7:00 p.m.
- The North-East Regionals and National Collegiate Championships will bring together some of the most talented wrestlers across the region as well as nationally.
- USA Wrestling will hold the 2021 U23 World Team Trials for Women's Freestyle in Irving, Texas with the champion representing Team USA at the World Championships in Belgrade, Serbia.
