#4-Ithaca Wrestling Team Dominates Oswego in 35-6 Win
December 10, 2011

ITHACA, N.Y. - The fourth-ranked Ithaca College wrestling team (6-0) remained unbeaten, posting a 35-6 win over visiting Oswego (0-2). The Bombers, who won nine of the 10 bouts, recorded their 12th straight win against the Lakers.

Junior Jules Doliscar (Holy Trinity/Dix Hills), ranked third nationally at 174 pounds, notched his national-leading 12th pin of the year (his 12 falls are more than any competitor at any level of college wrestling). Doliscar needed just 1:43 to pin his opponent after opening up an 11-2 lead. He's now 18-2 with a 6-0 dual mark in his first season as a Bomber (he was a two-time NJCAA runner-up).

Senior Seth Ecker (Pottstown/Pottstown, Pa.), ranked third nationally at 141 pounds, was a 2-1 winner. He earned a first-period takedown and held his opponent scoreless until allowing a last-second escape. Ecker is now 15-3 on the year (5-0 in dual meets) and 93-18 overall. His total of 93 career wins is good for 23rd on the program's all-time list and leaves him seven victories short of becoming the 18th Bomber to collect 100.

Senior Matt Mahon (Brighton/Rochester), Division III's eighth-ranked heavyweight, rallied for a 3-2 win. Mahon trailed 1-0 after a second-period escape but came back to raise his record to 12-3 (including a 4-2 mark in dual meets). His career record stands at 77-29.

Senior Jeremy Stierly (Owen J. Roberts/Pottstown, Pa.) made his 2011 debut and dominated his opponent at 149 pounds, recording an 18-5 major decision. Stierly, a two-time NCAA runner-up at 141 pounds, had been ranked second at that weight class in the preseason poll. He's now 80-17 in his career.

Wrestling at 125 pounds, senior Max Cohen (Williamsville East/East Amherst) opened the match with his first fall of the year. He was up 4-1 before pinning his opponent at the 1:17 mark. Cohen improved to 6-7 on the year (2-0 in dual matches) and raised his career record to 30-32.

Junior Rick Gomez (Brentwood/Brentwood) was a 4-3 winner at 133 pounds, raising his record to 7-4 on the season. He's 3-0 in dual matches in his first season at Ithaca.

Senior Tom Heckman (Cedar Cliff/Mechanicsburg, Pa.) shut out his opponent at 197 pounds, winning 4-0. Heckman is now 5-2 this winter (winning both his dual matches) and 34-32 in his career.

Brothers Brett Sanko and Nick Sanko (Hamburg Area/Lenhartsville, Pa.) won consecutive bouts at 157 and 165 pounds, respectively. Brett, a freshman, rallied for a 4-2 win at 157 pounds after trailing 2-1 at the end of one period. He's now 4-1 this year with a 3-1 record in duals.

Nick, a graduate student ranked ninth nationally, recorded his third major decision of the season, winning 12-2. He upped his season record to 6-1 (2-0 in dual matches) and is now 41-20 in his career.

Ithaca is now 33-17-3 all-time against Oswego, including a 22-1-1 record since 1982.

The Bombers are idle until traveling to Springfield, Ill., Jan. 7-8 for the Division III National Duals. Ithaca placed fourth at last year's event.
