BUFFALO, N.Y. - No. 23 Binghamton wrestling upped its record to 8-0 with a 27-12 win over Buffalo Monday afternoon at Lancaster High School. With the win over their longtime SUNY rivals, the Bearcats extend their school-record win streak to start a season.

Senior 157-pound Justin Lister, ranked No. 9 by Intermat, needed just 31 seconds to end his bout with Dom Montesanti. The 2010 All-American improved to 16-2 overall, 8-0 in duals with his team-high 10th pin. Lister notched his 93rd career win (93-33), edging closer to the 100-win plateau.

Freshman heavyweight Nick Gwiazdowski, recorded the team's other pin, finishing off Jedd Mason in 3:44. Giazdowski, ranked No. 13 by The Open Mat, improved to 15-4 overall, 5-1 in duals.

Junior 149-pound Donnie Vinson, No. 7 in the latest Intermat rankings, rolled to a technical fall over Chris Conti in 2:46. Vinson raised his overall record to 20-3, 8-0 in duals.

Junior 184-pound Nate Schiedel, No. 22 in the Wrestling Report rankings, posted a 13-4 major decision over Zach Ward to get the ball rolling for the Bearcats. Schiedel is 18-5 overall, 6-1 in duals. Sophomore 197-pound Cody Reed, No. 25 in Wrestling Report, recorded a 10-3 decision to improve to 16-5 overall, 6-0 duals). Junior 133-pound Patrick Hunter provided the team's other win - a 7-4 decision.

"Overall I thought we wrestled very well today," head coach Pat Popolizio said. "We had a lot of guys score bonus points and dominate their matches. I was very impressed with Patrick (Hunter) at 133. He looked aggressive and is getting better technically each week. The matches we lost were close and competitive. I thought our guys all wrestled hard. Now we can begin to prepare for Oklahoma and what is probably our biggest dual as a Division I program."

Binghamton returns home for two huge matchups against No. 9 Oklahoma (Jan. 10) and No. 4 Cornell (Jan. 15).
