Binghamton rolls over Sacred Heart 39-7

FAIRFIELD, Conn. - Binghamton wrestling (3-5) won eight of 10 bouts, including six by bonus points, and roared past host Sacred Heart (1-2) 39-7 Saturday afternoon at the Pitt Center. It was BU's 10th consecutive win head-to-head against the Pioneers.

Leading 15-7 midway through, BU erupted for five straight wins, including four by fall.

Sophomore 165-pound Brevin Cassella (10-6) got things started with a second-period pin. It was his sixth bonus-point win of the season. Junior 174-pound Jacob Nolan (11-3) followed with a first-period pin. Nolan needed just 58 seconds to collect his seventh dual win in eight matches.

After a decision at 184 by junior Sam DePrez, BU's ranked senior pair of No. 12 Lou DePrez and No. 22 Joe Doyle closed out the match with convincing wins. DePrez notched his first pin of the season, ending his match in 5:52. He improved to 13-2 overall, 3-0 in duals. Doyle eased his way to a 7-2 decision, raising his record to 7-2, 5-1 in duals.

Earlier senior 133-pound Anthony Sobotker kept up his stunning pin percentage. Sobotker posted a fall in 3:20 - his ninth pin in 10 overall victories. Sobotker raised his record to 10-6 overall, 5-2 in duals. Following Sobotker, sophomore 141-pound Ryan Anderson (3-3) had an abundance of back points in his 18-0 tech fall.

The Bearcats next head to Niceville, Fla. for The Collegiate Wrestling Duals, hosted Monday and Tuesday by Northwest Florida State College. There, BU opens with matches against No. 10 Missouri and No. 6 NC State.
