Batavia/Attica's Stewart, Marucci fair well at Falconer tourney; Alexander wins Franklinville Invitational

FALCONER - It was another banner weekend for Batavia/Attica sophomore Casper Stewart, who finished atop the podium at 138 lbs at the 21st annual Patrick J. Morales Tournament, hosted by Falconer High School.

Stewart took the title match by an 11-2 major decision over Iroquois' Ryan Sweeney after pinning his way to the final match, with wins over Dominic Urbino of Pioneer (:36), Iroquois' Brady Wilkinson (:43) in the quarterfinal and Harley Morris of Pennsylvania (1:08) in the semifinal. Stewart was named the tournament's Most Outstanding Wrestler.

ALEXANDER RECORDS PERFECT DAY IN FRANKLINVILLE

The Trojans enjoyed an unbeaten afternoon at the Franklinville Invitational over the weekend, moving past East Aurora (55-16), Fredonia (42-27) and Franklinville (64-0) to take home the dual tourney crown.
