ATHENS, OH - Since joining the Mid-American Conference in 1998, the University at Buffalo wrestling team had never won at Ohio's Convocation Center. That ended tonight as the Bulls cruised past the Bobcats, 25-10, in their final dual of the season.

The Bulls took control of the dual in the middle weights as both John Arceri (149) and Michael Petite (157) upset nationally ranked opponents.

Arceri trailed #29 Alec Hagan, 1-0, heading to the third period. However, the graduate student was able to get a takedown and secure the riding time point to win the match, 3-2.

Petite followed with a 4-3 decision over #27 Jordan Slivka. Like Arceri, Petite trailed, 1-0, after the second period. However, Petite was able to get two takedowns in the third period to win the match.

Derek Spann got things rolling for the Bulls with a 6-4 decision over Gio DiSabato at 133. Spann held off DiSabato for a 6-4 decision and in doing so, won his 53rd career dual match, breaking the program record for career dual wins.

Ben Freeman followed with a 10-2 major decision over Aiden Waszak. Freeman was in total control the entire match for his ninth dual win of the season.

Noah Grover had an easy go of it at 165. After a scoreless first period, Grover took a 5-1 lead after the second period before cruising to the 9-2 decision.

The Bulls won their final three duals to close it out.

Pete Acciardi earned a 5-2 decision at 184 over Logan Stanley. An Acciardi takedown in the third was the difference. It was his eighth dual win of the season.

Sam Mitchell might have pulled off the most impressive win of the night. The redshirt-sophomore was trailing Carson Brewer, 2-0, and was being ridden out for over two periods. However, Mitchell was able to turn Brewer early in the third for a 4-point nearfall and added a takedown to rally for a 6-5 win.

Toby Cahill finished things off with an impressive 8-1 decision over Jordan Greer. Cahill was in control the entire match.

"What a dual meet season," head coach John Stutzma said. "Twelve dual wins, that is a testament to our staff and guys. Tonight, we beat two nationally ranked guys at 149 and 157 and other ranked guys ahead of us in the MAC. I am extremely proud of these guys."

The Bulls finished the regular season with a 12-6 overall record and a 7-2 mark in MAC duals. The previous program record for MAC wins was five.

UB will now prepare for the MAC Championships which will take place at Ohio beginning March 5.
