ADRIAN, MI - Just one day after earning All-American honors, Skylah Chakouian '25 wrestled to an eighth-place finish at 155 pounds for the Elmira College women's wrestling program at the 2022 National Collegiate Women's Wrestling National Championships.

The Soaring Eagles earned 11 team points throughout the two-day tournament and finished 18th out of 32 programs that had a wrestler qualify for the national tournament.

Chakouian entered Championship Saturday with a 7th-place bout against Tiffani Baublitz from King (TN) University. Baublitz controlled the opening 30 seconds of the bout before Chakouian looked to change the momentum. She would look to break out of a hold before Baublitz was able to pin Chakouian's shoulders on the mat after several attempts to extend the bout.

The pin from Baublitz would come at the 1:06 mark and bring an end to Chakouian's tournament run in her first-ever trip to Adrian, Michigan. Chakouian finished her season wrestling at 155 pounds with a 19-7 record to go along with a national ranking for the Purple & Gold.

McKendree University captured the team championship after finishing the tournament with 188 points, while King finished second with 166 points and Simon Fraser University third with 145.5 points.

Alyvia Fiske of Simon Fraser won the national title at 155 pounds after defeating Kayla Marano from McKendree. Marlynne Deede from Augsburg University finished third after defeating Nyla Burgess from Adrian College.
