Brockport's Caccamise & Levey Ready for NCAA Championships in Iowa

The 2022 NCAA Division III Wrestling Championships committee released the brackets for the upcoming national tournament in Cedar Rapids, Iowa at the U.S. Cellular Center on Friday and Saturday.

Brockport 125-pound participant Matt Caccamise will square off against fifth seeded Justin Lopez of Johnson & Wales on Friday morning in bout 23 of Championship Round 1. Lopez is representing the Northeast Region after a first-place finish in his regional tournament two weekends ago.

Zach Levey, a 133 pounder, will take on seventh seeded Kyle Kaiser of Roger Williams in bout 35 of Championship Round 1 on Friday morning. Kyle Kaiser is representing the Northeast Region after a first-place finish in his regional two weekends ago.

Caccamise is making his third straight NCAA appearance after winning his second straight regional title two weeks back. He defeated Muhlenberg's Joey Lamparelli, 5-3, in the first-place matchup at regionals to earn a spot at nationals. He will enter NCAAs with a 19-3 overall record.

Levey qualified for his first NCAA appearance after posting a third-place finish in the 133-pound weight class at the Mideast Regionals hosted by Elizabethtown. Levey posted a fall victory over TCNJ's Jake Giordano at 3:31 in the third-place match at regionals to punch his ticket to NCAA's. Levey finished regionals with a 4-1 record and will enter nationals with a 23-7 overall record.

The NCAA's double elimination tournament will consist of four sessions. The opening round takes place during Friday mornings first session. The quarterfinals and first round of the consolation bracket will take place during Friday's night session. The semifinals and the third, fifth and seventh place matches will take place during Saturday's morning session. Saturday night's fourth and final session will feature the first place matches, where NCAA Champions will be crowned.
