Joye Levendusky takes 3rd place at U23 World Team Trials

Avon, NY, native Joye Levendusky took 3rd at U23 World Team Trials this last weekend in Fort Worth, Texas, making her an alternate for the U.S. national team competing at U23 Worlds.

Her only loss was to #1 seed Yelena Makoyed of North Central University, an opponent Levendusky has lost to in the NCAA national finals (National Collegiate Women's Wrestling Championships) each of the last two years.

Going in as the #4 seed, Levendusky got an opening round bye, then beat Brooklyn Hays of Champions Wrestling Club by tech fall 10-0 in the quarters. After falling to Makoyed in the semis, she defeated NAIA All-American Bailey Dennis in the consi semis by fall at the :53 mark. In the 3rd place match, Levendusky took a forfeit from Army/WCAP?s Tristan Kelly, an opponent Levendusky has beaten four times--three of those were in college. Levendusky is now a 4x U23 All-American, placing 4th in 2019, 3rd in 2020, 7th in 2021, and 3rd in 2022.
