JWU Wrestling Takes First At 39th RIT

ROCHESTER , NY - The Johnson & Wales University wrestling squad captured the 40th annual RIT Invitational in Rochester , N.Y., this past weekend. The Wildcats took home the team title with a total score of 118.0. Wilkes University placed second with 101.50 and Cortland State was third with a score of 98.50.

Three JWU standouts took home first-place finishes in the win for JWU. Sophomore Brandon McDonough ( Des Moines , Iowa ) went a perfect 5-0 at 125 pounds, sophomore Matt Smith ( Danville , N.H. ) went 5-0 at 133 pounds for a first-place finish while sophomore Steve Martell ( Caldwell , N.J. ) was 5-0 en route to a first-place finish at 165 pounds.
