Blacks Knights have Solid Performance at Black Knight Scramble

WEST POINT, N.Y.- In their season and home opener, the Army West Point wrestling team had a successful night having a handful of athletes that went undefeated.

How it Happened

In the Black Knight Scramble, Army had 32 athletes go up against LIU, Oregon State, and Queens University. Army had several cadet-athletes go undefeated.

In the 125-weight class, freshmen Ethan Berginc and Charles Farmer both competed in multiple matches, going undefeated in their season debuts. Bergnic won his first match with a tech fall in the third period, also Farmer won his first match of the day with a tech fall. Bergnic defeated the number seven wrestler in the 125-weight class in the country with a decision in overtime.

In the 157-class junior Nate Lukez also saw success in his multiple matchups. He defeated his opponent by a major decision. Also, in the 165 weight-class sophomore Dalton Harkins went undefeated on the day. In one of his matches, Harkins won in overtime with a takedown. He also won a match with a tech fall in the third, earning at least 15 points.

Junior Ben Pasiuk and Dillon Sheehy also saw continued success in the 174-weight class. In one of his matches, Pasiuk dominated his match and bested his opponent with a pin in the second. Sheehy won his match with an 11-6 decision helping him finish the afternoon undefeated.

Continuing the success of the team, Army's Kyle Swartz, Wolfgang Frable, and Eli Pack all went undefeated in their matches. Swartz, commanded in his match winning with a 17-4 major decision. In his first match of the day, Frable kicked of his college season with a fall dominating his opponent. Pike also defeated his opponent in the first period with a pin, remaining undefeated. In the heavy weight class, sophomore Kade Carlson went undefeated, winning more than two matches. In his first match, Carlson kicked things off with defeating his opponent with a pin. In his second match, Carlson finished the meet of with a bang, besting his opponent with a decision in overtime.
