Busy Weekend Ahead for the Bulls

BUFFALO, NY ? The University at Buffalo wrestling team will compete in two duals over the next three days, beginning at Pittsburgh on Friday night. The Bulls will return home to host Hofstra on Sunday.

The Bulls are coming off a thrilling 18-16 victory over SIU-Edwardsville on Sunday. Trailing, 16-12, heading into the final bout, Greg Hodulick was able to get a pin with just 2.7 seconds left in the third period to pull out the two-point victory for UB.

Ranked 24th, Pitt is the sixth ranked opponent the Bulls will face this season. The Panthers are 5-2 on the year. Pittsburgh has seven ranked wrestlers in its lineup, including four in the top 10. Nino Bonaccorsi is ranked second at 197, Cole Matthews is ranked third at 141, Dayton Pitzer is ranked fifth at 285 and Micky Phillippi is ranked eighth at 133.

Pitt leads the all-time series, 4-2. The Panthers escaped Alumni Arena with a 21-12 victory last season.

On Sunday, the Bulls will host their final non-conference dual of the season when Hofstra comes to town. The Pride is 0-2 on the year and is coming of an 18-17 loss to Bucknell.

Hofstra has two nationally ranked wrestlers, led by Jacob Ferreira who is ranked 24th at 184. He is ranked four spots higher than UB's Giuseppe Hoose.

Buffalo leads the all-time series, 6-5-1. The Bulls won at Hofstra last season, 27-13.
