DIVISION 1
Monroe County Wrestling - Week 7

Dual Meets:

This was an extremely busy week for Dual Meets in Monroe County. On Tuesday the big match pitted state ranked #5 Hilton vs #11 Brockport. Hilton came out on top with a 33 - 24 victory. However, Brockport had to give up 3 forfeits in this one - which makes things very interesting going into the Section V Duals as both teams have a legitimate shot in making the finals. If they do meet it could prove to be one of the best Monroe County Duals this season. Churchville Chili punched their ticket into the Section V Duals with a divisional win over Webster Schroeder 42-22, Trevor Weeden of CC picked up a pin at 172 lbs to help lead Churchville. Fairport was victorious over Rush Henrietta 40 to 24. This result means that 3 teams, Fairport, Pittsford, and RH will share the league title. However, a point system was used to determine the two entries into the Dual Meet Championships. The result: Fairport takes the top spot followed by Pittsford. Pittsford defeated Greece 54-22, Thomas Gargan of Pittsford secured a pin at 145 lbs to aid in the victory. Victor was on the road against Penfield and pulled out the victory 42-30. The match of the night here was at 126 lbs between Angelo Attardi of Victor and Penfield's Ryan Parton. The two talented grapplers battled for 6 minutes in a back and forth scrambling affair, in the end Attardi pulled out the hard fought 6-5 decision. Webster Thomas took on Spencerport and captured a 45-21 victory. Kieran Hayden scored a pin at 189 lbs to help lead Thomas to the win. A good one went down at 145 lbs between Cal Russo (S) and Jacob Mendola (WT). It was a low scoring affair as Russo pulled out the narrow 3-2 decision.

A few teams were in action on Wednesday. Penfield picked up a win over Canandaigua by the score of 44-27. Braydon Albro (P) got the pin to help lead the Patriots. Fairport knocked off Attica Batavia 43-24. Brody Wolcott picked up a pin at 126 lbs for the Red Raiders.

On Thursday, Victor and Webster Schroder locked up in divisional action. Victor came out with the 46-21 victory. Drew Aparo got things started at 110 lbs with a sound technical fall.
