Avon Central School almuna and current Southern Oregon wrestler Joye Levendusky has won the US Open wrestling championships, thus earning her a spot the best-of-3 finals of the US World Team Trials, "Final X", to be held in Newark, N.J., June 10.

Levendusky scored a technical fall over No. 4 seed and high school senior Rose Cassioppi of New York Athletic Club, 10-0, in the second period at 72 kg. Levendusky, a 2023 NAIA runner-up for Southern Oregon, will face 2022 World champion Amit Elor at Final X.
