D'Youville Women's Wrestling has Strong Showing in Program's Debut

ADRIAN, Mich. - Making their program debut at the Adrian College Duals, the D'Youville University women's wrestling team came away with a 1-3 record on the day.

#T-13 Aurora University 44 - D'Youville University 6
In their first dual of the day, Saniyah Ward (Lewisville, Ark.) came away with the lone win in the dual winning by fall over Olga Turiy in the 143 pound match.

D'Youville University 19 - Davenport University 5
In their second dual of the day, the Saints fell behind 5-0 before Madison Wellen (East Berlin, Pa.) and Ward picked up forfeit wins to take the lead. Alessandra Elliott (Staten Island, N.Y.) kept the winning ways going, getting the 11-0 tech. fall Alexis Adams in the 155-pound class. Elizabeth Stricklin (San Antonio, Texas) closed out the dual with a fall over Libia Hernandez, needing just 48 seconds to get the job done in the 170-pound class.

#17 Tiffin University 31 - D'Youville University 17
Despite having to forfeit the first five weight classes, the Saints showed out in the weight classes competed in. Wellen go DYU on the board, getting the 10-0 tech. fall over Tatiana Bermudez in the 136 pound class. Ward continued her strong outing with a fall over Paige Lenhardt, needing 3:19 to do so.

Elliott got another win on the day, this time by an 11-8 decision win over Erin Martin. Stricklin closed out the dual, winning the team's fourth-straight match over Tia Leahy by fall in just 1:47.

#10 Adrian College 40 - D'Youville University 10
The Saints closed out the day with a pair of wins over the Bulldogs with Wellen and Stricklin finishing strong. Wellen got the fall over Isabella Richardson in 2:30 with Stricklin getting the fall over Elisa Cox in just 46 seconds.

DYU will be back in action next Friday, November 17th, as they travel to the Elmira College Tri-Meet where they will face #22 Elmira and #T-19 New Jersey City University at 5 p.m.
