Bulls Drop Two at Journeymen Duals

BUFFALO, NY - The University at Buffalo wrestling team dropped a pair of duals at the Journeymen Classic in Bethlehem, PA on Saturday. The Bulls dropped a tight dual to LIU, 19-15, before falling to North Carolina, 32-7.

In the opener, the Bulls fell behind 12-0, before making a furious comeback.

Kaleb Burgess got the Bulls on the board with a 14-10 decision over Drew Witham at 149. Ty Raines followed with a 6-5 decision over Rhise Royster at 157. Hunter Shaut earned UB's third straight win with a 4-1 decision over James Johnston at 165.

Chase Kranitz won a 4-2 decision at 184 and Sam Mitchell followed with a 13-2 major decision at 197. But it wasn't enough as the Sharks held on for the victory.

In the second dual of the day, Buffalo fell to North Carolina, 32-7.

Shaut got his second victory of the day with a 10-5 decision over Isaias Estrada. Marcus Petite, seeing his first action of the season, earned a 12-4 major decision over Sabino Portello at 174.

"We have a lot of fixes and it starts with me," head coach John Stutzman said. "We had chances all day against LIU and North Carolina. We need to continue to work and progress."

Buffalo will next compete against Northern Colorado and Virginia at the ArmBar at the Amory on Albany, NY next Saturday.
