AMHERST - Gage LaPlante wasn't afraid to rip the Band-Aid off.

After finishing seventh in the state in the 145-pound weight class two years ago, having his season cut off before the postseason stunk. Once again, LaPlante had established himself as one of the best wrestlers in Western New York with a 37-5 record and a third Section VI Class A championship in his Starpoint career.
