Graduate Student won Franklin & Marshall Open on Friday

VESTAL, N.Y. - Three days after winning his second straight tournament championship at the David H. Lehman '68 Franklin & Marshall Open, Lou DePrez has been named EIWA Wrestler of the Week for Jan. 8, the league announced Monday.

The graduate student won all five of his matches at the event, picking up two pins and two technical falls along the way. His final victory came against No. 17 Levi Hopkins of Campbell in a 17-2 technical fall.

The two-time All-American has experienced success since returning to the mat from injury back in December. In his season debut for the Bearcats, DePrez won the Sheridan Tournament at Lehigh. He went 4-0 with two major decisions and a technical fall.

DePrez, who is ranked No. 7 in the country at 197 lbs., by FloWrestling, and the Bearcats return to dual competition this week with three meets. Binghamton will first wrestle at No. 22 Lehigh on Friday at 7 p.m. The Bearcats will then host their first two meets at the Events Center this season against EIWA rival Drexel at 5:30 p.m., and Buffalo at 7:30 p.m.
