LOCK HAVEN, PA - The University at Buffalo wrestling team put together their best performance of the season, defeating the two-time defending Mid-American Conference Champion Lock Haven Blad Eagles, 23-12, at Thomas Fieldhouse on Friday night. With the win, the Bulls improved to 3-1 in MAC duals.

Max Elton set the tone early with a 10-1 major decision over Logan Sallot at 125. The Bulls would drop their next three bouts to fall behind, 12-4. However, from there on out it was all UB.

Nick Stampoulos got the Bulls rolling with a 7-3 decision at 157.

The dual really turned over the next two matches. Hunter Shaut earned a tough 7-4 sudden victory at 157 to cut the lead to 12-10. Jay Nivison followed with a 3-2 decision over Tyler Stoltzfus at 174. Trailing 1-0 late in the match, Nivision got a takedown with just 12 seconds left to earn the victory and give the Bulls a 13-12 lead.

Chase Kranitz followed with a 7-5 decision over Colin Fegley at 184 and then Sam Mitchell cruised to a 15-3 major over Cael Black.

In the final match of the night, Magnus Biblao earned his first victory as a Bull with an 11-6 decision over Ethan Miller. It capped six straight wins for UB and gave the Bulls the nine-point victory.

"What a team effort," head coach John Stutzman said. "What this group of guys just did beating the two-time MAC Champions is awesome! I'm so proud of this team."
