Three Cornellians are Set to Compete in the 2024 Senior World Team Trials
September 13, 2024

OMAHA, NE - The 2024 Senior World Team Trials are taking place on Saturday and Sunday, September 14-15, in Omaha, Nebraska. Three Cornell wrestling alumni will be representing the university at the event. Those former Big Red wrestlers are Vito Arujau '24, Nahshon Garrett '16 and Phillip Moomey '24.

Arujau and Garrett will be competing in 61 kg Men's Freestyle and Moomey will be competing in 63 kg Greco-Roman.

Garrett and Moomey will both compete on Saturday in a challenge tournament to determine who will wrestle in the best-of-three finals. Arujau, as the reigning Freestyle World Champion at 61 kg, has a bye to the finals on Sunday.

Looking back to last year's world team trials, Arujau defeated Garrett to earn his first national team spot in a thrilling two match final. This could be a Big Red rematch in the making as both are competing once again in this year's world team trials for 61 kg.
