Tradition is a big part of any sport at any school, whether it's maintaining it or building it.

At Canandaigua Academy, there is plenty of history for the current generation to maintain, and draw inspiration from.

"Yeah, they see the names on the wall," said CA coach Rich Romeo during a practice this week in the CA wrestling room, where names of past champions are painted on the walls. "And they want to be part of that. It's something for them to strive for."

For the wrestlers at Marcus Whitman, it's all about the construction of a winning tradition.


But no matter the perspective, the task at hand this weekend is the state qualifier meet for Section V.
