GORHAM — The Marcus Whitman wrestling program has never had a wrestler compete in the state tournament in its 53-year history.

Justin Smith is about to change that.

The Marcus Whitman freshman became the first Wildcat to ever qualify for states when he was awarded one of the wild cards for the 99-pound weight class on Wednesday.
