Brockport State Splits Up For Two Strong Performances

YORK, Pa. / Sanborn, N.Y. - The College at Brockport wrestling team split up for a pair of tournaments on Saturday, with a number of wrestlers putting forth solid performances.

Dillon Stowell and Triston Engle had the best finishes for the Golden Eagles at the New Standard Corporation Invitational, each advancing to the semifinals of their respective weight classes. Stowell won his three bouts in 133 by fall, technical fall, and decision before falling to the eventual champion from Baldwin Wallace. Engle used a bye and then wins by fall and major decision before falling in a tight 4-2 semifinal decision.

Travis Race used a second round pin to advance to the quarterfinals of the 184-lb weight class, but fell there to Johnson and Wales' K. Thomas after a medical forfeit.

Jerrell White had the best finish for Brockport at the Thunderwolves Open, hosted by Niagara County Community College. The junior took third place in the 184-lb weight class after falling in the semifinals and then fighting his way back with two wins in the consolation bracket.

After falling to eventual champion Dren Bratrum in the opening round bout, Jonah Cavallo fought his way back with three straight wins to take fourth in the 149-lb weight class. He used two wins by fall, including one in the consolation quarterfinals over Alfred States Casey Connor in just 0:59 seconds.

The Golden Eagles will host their first dual meet of the season this Thursday when they welcome RIT for a dual beginning at 7 p.m.
