Redskins Roll at State Farm Classic

HORNELL — The cold weather did not stop many local wrestlers from making the trip to Hornell High School Saturday for the annual State Farm Classic.

Due to the fact that several schools from further away in the state could not make the trip, Saturday's Classic turned into a true showcase for the talent that sits right in the Southern Tier, which made for a great day of wrestling.

"Canisteo-Greenwood is one of the top-ranked teams in the states. Bolivar-Richburg comes in and they were very competitive as well. There were a whole bunch of great matches," said HHS coach Scott Johnson. "By the semifinals, you were seeing almost all full six minute matches. We had some upsets with kids getting knocked off — there was a lot of high caliber wrestling."
