Five Clarence wrestlers place at NFWOA tourney

A couple of strong teams from Pennsylvania upped the ante in Saturday's weather-shortened Niagara Frontier Wrestling Officials Association tournament at Niagara County Community College, which made the fact that five Clarence wrestlers placed in the top seven of their respective weight classes even sweeter in coach Jason Chase's eyes.

Clarence, which placed sixth in the team standings when it made its tournament debut last winter, finished 11th in the standings this time around — but just seven points out of eighth place and 11 points out of seventh place. Wyoming Seminary, one of the two Pennsylvania powerhouses, dominated the competition with eight individual champions en route to posting 384 points, nearly 250 more than second-place Lancaster.
