Brockport Wrestling: NCAA Nationals Preview
March 08, 2018

CLEVELAND, Ohio - The No. 20 ranked College at Brockport wrestling team will be making their annual trip to the National Tournament this weekend, and this year have three wrestlers competing. Jonathan Haas (125) and Triston Engle (197) will each make their second consecutive appearance in the National Tournament, while Sean Peacock (149) won his weight class at the Mideast Regional to earn his first ever appearance on the big stage.

Haas is currently ranked No. 3 in the country by the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA), matching his finish in last year's national tournament. The senior has amassed a 35-1 record in 2017-18, winning every tournament he's entered thus far, including the Mideast Regional. His sole loss this season came to No. 2 ranked Peter Del Gallo of Southern Maine in a hard fought 4-3 decision.

Peacock is now 23-5 on the season after going 4-0 to win the Mideast Regional last weekend. The Phelps, N.Y. native has been on fire of late, having not lost a bout since mid-January. He'll enter the national tournament at the No. 7 seed, and will square off with Baldwin Wallace's Stanley Bleich in the opening round.

Engle is ranked sixth in the country by the NWCA, and will enter the nationally tournament with that ranking. He's 37-3 in 2017-18, and has not only won his bouts but done it in dominant fashion, pinning 27 of his opponents. He's been an "iron man" for the team this year, competing in every competition for the Green and Gold, winning three tournaments and placing in every other.

The team finished eighth in the country last season with just two wrestlers in the national tournament, so they'll look to improve on that finish this year.
